Atom Smashing is interactive and spatial sound design, and creative technology work of Adam Kruckenberg.
As staff sound designer and systems designer at HUSH, I have designed and executed immersive audio experiences for clients such as Instagram, Linkedin, and Warner Media, and have worked with artistic collaborators such as Brooklyn’s Title:Point. I also write and release music with the band Shapes on Tape, and hosted, produced, edited, and engineered the podcast HUSH+1 for HUSH.
I primarily work with developers using audio engines such as FMOD Studio to create nonlinear 3D spatial audio experiences for large speaker arrays, AR, and VR, but I also prototype sensors and controllers and compose, arrange, and score video, including all the videos on this site. I have a love of physical computing, and enjoy making my own MIDI controllers using Teensy and Raspberry Pi.
I believe that spatial audio can provide information to audience members that they may be unaware of. From guiding attention and propelling stories, to reinforcing emotion and scale, to giving interactions a sense of texture and reality, sound is an essential part of any experience that seeks to transport an audience or participant to a new world.
